Tyler Mook, Main Person Of Interest In Wife's Disappearance Is Arrested On Seperate Charge In Martin County

STUART (CBS12) -- A man is charged with attempted first degree murder after the Martin County Sheriff's office says he tried to drown his girlfriend in October.

Tyler Mook was picked up on a domestic battery charge back in October the Sherriff’s Office says.

The state attorney said the domestic battery charge was not severe enough, and eventually the Sheriff's Office was able to up the charges to attempted first degree murder.

Shelley Mook, the suspects wife from Tennessee, has been missing since 2011.

Her burned car was discovered.

According to published reports, the last person Shelley Mook was seen with was her ex-husband, Tyler. Her burned vehicle was found later.

Shelley Mook is still missing.

Shelley Lynn Jones Mook is a beloved daughter, mother, sister, family member, and friend of many many people. She is a native of Erie, PA and moved to Tennessee with her now ex-husband Tyler Mook. The two have a daughter, Lilliana Irene Mook. Shelley was last seen by her ex-husband on Monday, February 28, 2011 between 3:00pm and 4:00pm in Shelbyville, TN. Her car was found engulfed in flames 20 feet from a route just outside of Murfreesboro, TN later that evening. There has been no sign of her since.

TBI's Kristin Helm has consistently stated that Tyler Mook "is still very much a person of interest. He has never really cooperated with our agents as far as sitting down and giving them an interview about the last time he saw her". Helm has also previously stated that Mook has not been cooperative: "Anytime you have someone who is not really helping you who may have been the last person to see someone. That makes it difficult as well". Helm also previously stated that Mook "is the primary person of interest in this case".

Tyler Mook was arrested late 2014 in Florida for attempted murder of his new girlfriend (not Shelley) and remains incarcerated awaiting trial. According to public court documentation Tyler Mook's prior criminal convictions include (but are not limited to) reckless endangerment, theft of property, and alteration of serial numbers. Mook's also has numerous other unconvinced criminal activities as documented and testified in other civil court proceedings. During an evidentiary hearing, “numerous witnesses testified to Father’s history of illegal drug use, drug trafficking, violent behavior, and verbal and physical abuse towards Mother.”

Tyler Mook, his lawyers, and his entire family have refused to comment or assist in the search for Shelley Jones Mook.
