Palm City man accused of trying to drown girlfriend

STUART — Martin County Sheriff’s Office warrants detectives arrested 34-year-old Tyler Mook of Palm City early Saturday morning.
Mook has been charged with attempted first-degree murder stemming from an incident that took place in Martin County in October. The victim, Mook’s girlfriend at the time, contacted deputies to report that Mook had tried to killer her by pushing her off a boat, and holding her underwater in an attempt to drown her.
The case was initially reported as a domestic battery, but those charges were increased to attempted murder. Detectives picked Mook up at his place of employment early this morning.
Mook has long been the main person of interest in the 2011 disappearance of his ex-wife Shelly Nook in Tennessee. According to published reports, authorities in Tennessee found her charred vehicle shortly after her disappearance, but her body has never been found. Shelly Mook’s disappearance has been featured on national shows such as “Nancy Grace.” No arrests have been made in that case.
Mook is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail in the attempted murder case in Martin County.
